Skipping Day
On 13th July, Miss Gibbon led our annual ‘Skipping Day’. The individual results were:

Go Shine Girls’ Football tournament
On 7th July, fifteen local primary schools’ Girls’ football teams competed in the Go Shine Girls’ 5-a-side football tournament at King Edward VI Schools’ Playing Fields. Our team won two matches and drew three matches, just missing out on the semi-final by one goal. Well done to Tazkiyah, Amal, Sophia, Lainey, A’zirah and Ashay’a who represented our school. Thank you to Miss Gibbon for managing the team.
School Games Mark
The Gold School Games Mark for 2025 – 2026 was awarded to the school for the fourth consecutive year. Congratulations to Miss Gibbon our P.E. lead and all involved with any aspect of physical activity, P.E. and school sports within the school community.
St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Company Swimming Gala
On 2nd July, the school’s Swimming team competed in the inaugural St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Company Swimming Gala at Archbishop Ilsley Secondary School. Four schools participated in this event. Well done to the team, Shalom, Lumaya, Kimora, Roshan, Viktor and Hoang who, as a team, were very successful, winning the girls’ front crawl, the girls’ backstroke, the boys’ breaststroke, the boys’ medley relay, the girls’ medley relay and the mixed freestyle relay. The team were the overall winners of this event.
Sports Days
Thank you to Miss Gibbon, supported by the Junior staff, for organising the Junior Sports Day on 30th June. Miss Gibbon has calculated the overall results from this event. The results are 1st – St. John 155 points, 2nd – St. Luke - 153 points, 3rd – St. Matthew 148 points, 4th – St. Luke – 124 points. Well done to all who participated.
Thank you also to Miss Gibbon and the Infant staff for organising the Infant classes’ Sports Day on 1st july. Thank you to the parents and carers who were able to come to the Sports Days to provide support and thank you to the children for helping to make these events so enjoyable.
St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Company Sports Day
On 29th June, thirteen Year 5 and Year 6 children participated in the second St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Company Sports Day at Alexander Stadium. Nine of the ten primary schools in the academy were competing. Well done to Sophia, Imaan, Amal, Davani, Viktor, Gurtej, Antoni, Rayan, Jayden S, Logan M, Shalom, Kimora and Diya J who represented our school. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking the children to this event with me. Some notable achievements include Rayan finished second in the Boys’ 80m sprint, Kimora second in the Girls’ 80m sprint and the mixed 100m relay team; Shalom, Jayden, Rayan and Kimora, finishing second in their race.
Jo Nightingale Memorial Event
For many years, in her role as the Hamstead Hall School Games Co-ordinator, Jo Nightingale led a range of sporting opportunities for schools in our locality. Jo passed away unexpectedly almost three ago. St. Teresa’s School had worked with Jo for nearly twenty years, and she was in school supporting us in achieving gold in the School Games Mark a couple of days before she passed away. Jo had been an elite hockey player and coach and many of her friends pledged to work to carry on the work that Jo undertook as her legacy.
The third annual Jo Nightingale Memorial event was held on 16th June at Dorrington School with a focus on hockey. The children had coaching and a tournament. Well done to the St. Teresa’s team; Diya J, Diya M, Amelia, Chiamaka, Laura, Zane, Aaron, Phoenix and Saif for how they conducted themselves at this event. All children received a medal and Aaron received the Determination Award Trophy. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking the children to this event.
Football results
On 11th June, the Year 5 and Year 6 Girls’ five-a-side ‘B’ football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ Summer Tournament, losing 2-0, 3-0 and 2-0. The final match was the third and fourth place play-off which the team lost 3-2. The team; Amal, Imaan, Sophia, Diya J, Florence and Tazkiyah, were a credit to the school. Thank you to Miss Gibbon for her support.
Year 5 and Year 6 Boys’ Football Result
On 14th May, the 9-a-side Football Team played in the quarter final of the George Waterfall Cup against Maryvale Catholic Primary School. The team lost 2-1 in the rain and hail. It was a strong team effort by Gurtej, Dominik, Jayden, Rayan, Logan, Kwesi, Divine, Nifemi, Roshan, Antoni and Hoang. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and the parents for their support and for their help with transport for yesterday’s match.
Year 5 and Year 6 Boys’ Football Result
On 8th May, the Year 5 and Year 6 Boys’ 7-a-side Football Team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ league against St. Mary’s C of E School. The team; Anthony, Dominik, Jayden, Rayan, Logan, Kwesi, Divine, Nifemi, Antoni and Hoang, played very well but were defeated 6-2.
Year 5 and Year 6 Boys' Football Reult
On 5th May, the Year 5 and Year 6 Boys’ Football B Team competed in the Aston Primary Schools tournament. The team played four matches, with two of these being against a school that fielded an ineligible team. The team lost 6-0, 3-0, 4-0 and 2-0. These results do not reflect the hard work and strong team ethic shown by Rayan, Roshan, Aaron, Tomek, Logan S, Viktor, Hashim and Senay.
Year 5 and Year 6 Girls’ Football Result
After school on 21st April, the Year 5 and Year 6 Girls’ 7-a-side football team played against St. Michael’s C of E School. St. Teresa’s won 5-0. Very well done to Amelia, Shalom, Eva, Lumaya, Lainey, A’zirah and Ashay’a. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking the children to this event.
Year 4 Dodgeball tournament
On 21st April, the Year 4 Dodgeball team participated in the St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Company event at St. Clare’s Catholic Primary School. The team played six matches winning 4-1, 6-0, 3-0 and 3-0 and losing 3-2 and 2-1. Well done to Ariya, Dawid, Dasis, Genevieve, Kofi, Sameera, Simrit and Quinn who won the event. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking the children to this event.

On 12th March, the Year 4 Girls’ six-a-side football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ tournament. The team played three group matches winning 5-0 and drawing 1-1 and 0-0. The team qualified for the semi-final which they won 2-1 then onto the final which they won 1-0. Congratulations to Chiamaka A, Sameera, Ariya, Simrit, Avneet, Genevieve and Deborah. The girls received a trophy and medals. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and the parents and families for their support.

On 6th March, our Year 4 and 5 Girls’ six-a-side football team were competing in the Caritas Christi In Urbe Schools’ football tournament at St. Paul’s School for Girls. The team played two matches, drawing 0-0 and winning 2-0. The team won the tournament and received medals. Well done to Chiamaka A, Sameera, Ariya, Simrit, A’zirah, Lainey, Ashay’a, Sophia and Amal. On 5th March, the Year 3 and Year 4 Boys’ six-a-side football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ tournament winning 2-1, drawing 0-0 and 0-0 and losing 4-0. The team worked hard in each of their matches. It was a great team effort by Kofi, Taran, Jaiden, Osamudiamen, Gjamani, Dasis, Khari and Aidan. Thank you to Miss Gibbon, Mrs Allport and parents and families for their support.
Birmingham Catholic Primary Schools Year 5 and Year 6 Mixed Basketball tournament
On 12th Febraury, the Year 6 Mixed Basketball team competed in the Birmingham Catholic Primary Schools tournament. The team played four matches winning 4-2 and losing 4-0, 4-0 and 4-0. It was a good team effort by Lumaya, Diya J, Chiamaka, Nifemi, Divine, Adam, Aaron and Phoenix. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking the children to this event.
Caritas Christi In Urbe Cross Country Running
On 6th February, Nifemi, Kimora, Senay, Kimi, Gjamani, Davina, Eliam and Devaki, competed in the Caritas Christi In Urbe Cross Country Running event at St. Paul’s School for Girls. Unfortunately, several schools withdrew from the event and one school had transport issues on the day, so only St. Patrick and St. Edmund’s School and our school attended. Despite a strong team performance our team was edged into second overall by the outcome of a single race. Thank you to Miss Gibbon for taking the team to this event.
Football results
On 5th February, the Year 4 and Year 5 Girls’ six-a-side football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ Tournament finals after qualifying last week. The team played three matches, winning 2-1 and losing 3-0 and 3-0. The team was one of three teams that finished on the same number of points but our team did not qualify for the final due to goal difference. All present were very proud of Chiamaka A, Lainey, A’zirah, Ashay’a, Sophia, Amal, Sameera and Ariya. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and the parents for their support.

On 29th January, the Year 4 and Year 5 Girls’ six-a-side football team played in the Aston Primary Schools’ Tournament, winning 5-0, drawing 1-1 and losing 3-1. It was a wonderful team effort by Chiamaka A, Lainey, Ashay’a, Sophia, Amal, Sameera and Ariya. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and the parents for their support. The team have qualified for the finals of this tournament which take place next week. Well done to all involved!

On 22nd January, the Year 5 Boys’ six-a-side football team played in the Aston Primary Schools’ Autumn Tournament, winning 3-1, drawing 1-1 and losing 3-1 and 4-1. The team, Gurtej, Daivik, Jayden, Riyon, Matiwos, Theo, Veer and Antoni, gave it their all and demonstrated strong teamwork. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and the parents for their support.
St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi-Academy Company Basketball and Handball Tournament
On 8th December, our school was well represented at the St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi-Academy Company Basketball and Handball Tournament at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School, Small Heath which seven of our academy schools attended. In the morning, the children had a Basketball tournament winning 1-0 and 1-0, drawing 0-0 and 0-0 and losing 1-2 and 0-1 and in the afternoon, there was a Handball tournament. The team won 1-0, 1-0 and 2-1, drew 1-1 and lost 1-3 and 1-2. The St. Teresa’s team received bronze medals for finishing third overall. Well done to Hashim, Tazkiyah, Veer, Lainey, Troy, Ashay’a, Jayden, Theo and Matiwos. Thank you to Miss Bennett for taking the children to this event.
Chess tournament
On 4th December, the school’s Chess team competed in the Birmingham Catholic Schools’ Sports Association’s Chess tournament. Eight schools participated in this event at the Abbey Catholic Primary School in Erdington. The school was very well represented by Adam, Dominik, Aaron, Rayan, Roshan and Viktor. The team finished second overall after the top two teams had the same number of points, but our team lost out to the overall winning school on individual results. Roshan was joint second in the individual competition. Thank you to Mrs Gillam, supported by Miss Gravell and Miss Gold for providing our After School Chess Club for children in the Junior classes.
Sports Crew
On 28th November, children in Year 6 have applied to be part of the school’s ‘Sports Crew’. This group work on behalf of the school to enhance sporting and other physical provisions alongside Miss Gibbon, our P.E. lead. Congratulations to Khadijah, Shalom, Diya J, Rayan, Layla and Diya M who are the newly selected members of our Sports Crew.

On 20th November, at the Aston Primary Schools’ Girls’ five-a-side tournament, the team played three matches, winning 5-0, drawing 1-1 and losing 4-1. Well done to Chiamaka, Ashay’a, Eva, Lainey, Shalom and A’zirah. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and the parents for their support.
Boccia and Kurling
On 18th November, the Year 4 and Year 5 Boccia and Kurling Team competed at the Caritas Christi In Urbe Boccia and Kurling Festival at St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Nechells. The team: Adam, Quinn, Tabitha, Ashay’a, Gianni and Amaan had a successful afternoon finishing joint first in this event. Thank you to Mrs. Murdock for taking the children to this event.

On 13th November, at the Aston Primary Schools’ Boys’ five-a-side tournament, the team played four matches, losing 6-1, 2-0, 4-0 and 5-1. It was a good effort against strong opposition by Anthony, Divine, Antoni, Logan, Dominik, Zane and Hoang. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and the parents for their support.
Boys’ five-a-side and Girls’ five-a-side Football
On 22nd October, the Boys’ and Girls’ five-a-side football teams competed in the Birmingham Catholic Primary Schools’ tournament. The Boys’ team played five league matches, winning 1-0, drawing 1-1, 0-0 and 0-0 and losing 3-1 and 2-1. It was a good team effort by Gurtej, Antoni, Hoang, Divine, Dominik and Logan M.
The Girls’ team played three league matches, winning 4-0, drawing 1-1 and losing 1-0. Well done to Chaimaka J, Lumaya, Eva, Shalom, Ashay’a, Lainey and A’zirah. The team finished second in their league qualifying for the bronze medal match which they won 2-0 therefore finishing third in the tournament. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for managing the Girls’ team and to the parents who were able to attend and support the team.
Year 5 and Year 6 Girls’ seven-a-side Football
On 21st September, after school, the Year 5 and Year 6 Girls’ Football Team played in the Aston Primary Schools League at King Edward VI Girls Grammar School. The team played three matches winning 1-0, drawing 0-0 and losing 2-0. Well done to Chiamaka J, Amelia, Eva, Shalom, Lumaya, Ashay’a, Lainey and A’zirah. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for managing the team and to those parents who helped with transport and for their support.
Boccia and Kurling
On the afternoon of 21st September, the Year 2 and Year 3 Boccia and Kurling Team competed at the Caritas Christi In Urbe Boccia and Kurling Festival at St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Nechells. The team: Anisha, Ryan, Matthew-Daniel, Shai, David B and Ayaan were a credit to the school. One of the team members said that this experience was ‘amazing’! Thank you to Mrs. Murdock for taking the children to this event.
Year 4 Indoor Hockey Festival
On 30th September, the Year 4 Hockey team participated in the St John Wall School Games Partnership Year 4 Hockey Festival at Handsworth Wood Girls’ Academy with coaching provided by England Hockey. Chiamaka, Deborah, Tara, Adam, Harveer and Ibrahim had an active and enjoyable afternoon. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking the children to this event.
