Skipping Day

On 14th July, Miss Gibbon led our annual ‘Skipping Day’. The individual results were:

Thank you to Miss Gibbon for organising this event. Thank you to our Sports Crew; Lewis, Eve and Jaimar supported by Matthew, Mason and Saran and to Diego our work experience student/past pupil with us this week, for assisting.

Birmingham Catholic Primary Schools’ Athletics

On 30th June, the school competed at the Birmingham Catholic Primary Schools’ Athletics event at Alexander Stadium. St. Teresa’s School was represented by; Hoang, A’zirah, Divine, Shalom, Eve, Nifemi, Kimora, Giovanni, Kenyah, Lewis and Zuzanna.

The team had some successes with A’zirah reaching the Year 4 Girls’ Sprint final and finishing third, Hoang reaching the Year 4 Boys’ Sprint final and finishing seventh and Divine reaching the Year 5 Boys’ Sprint final finishing ninth. Thank you to Mrs Murdock and Miss Gibbon who looked after the team with me.  Thank you also to the parents who attended for their support.

Sports Days

Thank you to Miss Gibbon, supported by the Junior staff, for organising the Junior Sports Day on 30th June. Miss Gibbon has calculated the overall results from this event. The results are 1st – St. John, 2nd – St. Matthew, 3rd – St. Mark, 4th – St. Luke. Well done to all who participated.

Thank you also to the Infant staff for organising the Infant classes’ Sports Day on 2nd July. Thank you to the parents and carers who were able to come to the Sports Days to provide support and thank you to the children for helping to make these events so enjoyable. 

St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Sports Challenge

On 19th June, Eve, Rowan, Veer, Tomek, Gabriel, Nebyou and Adam represented our school at a Sports Challenge at The Rosary Catholic Primary School. The children were a credit to their families and to the school with their behaviour and the way they supported each other. The children were presented with a medal and a certificate at the end of the event. Thank you to Miss Shirley, Miss Bennett and Mrs Patel for taking the children to this event and getting so involved in each challenge.

Jo Nightingale Memorial Event

The second annual Jo Nightingale Memorial event was held on 17th June at Dorrington School with a focus on hockey. The children had coaching and a tournament. Well done to the St. Teresa’s team; Jaya, Jinuli, Kianna, Inayah, Sophia, Joseph, Thomas, Matthew, Lewis and Jaimar were given the award for ‘Self-belief’ and finished the event in joint second place. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and Mrs Keogh for taking the children to this event. 

St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Company Sports Day

On 13th June, fourteen Year 6 children participated in the inaugural St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Company Sports Day at Alexander Stadium. Well done to Sophia, Eve, Kianna, Mayana, Anvayi, Zuzanna, Kenyah, Harpreet, Rehan, Hoger, Mason, Arjun, Zeeshaan and Aman who represented our school. Thank you to Mrs Murdock, Mrs Keogh and Miss Aziz for taking the children to this event.

Football results

On 20th May, the Year 5 and Year 6 Girls’ five-a-side ‘B’ football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ Summer Tournament, losing 5-1, 4-1, 1-0 and 1-0. The team: Kenyah, Anvayi, Zuzanna, Jinuli and Diya J were a credit to the school. Thank you to Miss Gibbon for her support.

 

On 13th May, the Year 6 Boys’ five-a-side ‘B’ football team played in the Aston Primary Schools’ Autumn Tournament, losing 2-1, 1-0 and 2-1. The team: Jaimar, Zeeshaan, Rutvik, Saran, Giovanni and Zakee gave it their all. Thank you to Mrs Murdock, Miss Gibbon and Mr Mattu for their support.

 

On 18th March, the Year 6 Boys’ nine-a-side football team competed in the George Waterfall Cup winning 1-0 against St. James C of E Primary School and progressing to the next round. The team then played an Aston Primary Schools’ League match against St. Michael’s C of E Primary School losing 3-0. The team played well throughout both matches. Well done to Matthew, Lewis, Thomas, Joseph, Harpreet, Elijah, Mason, Hoger, Haaris and Aman. Thank you to Miss Gibbon, Mrs Gillam, Miss Bennett and parents for their support.

 

On 13th March, our Year 3 and 4 Girls’ six-a-side football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ tournament. The team played three matches, unfortunately losing 1-0, 6-1 and 6-0. Well done to Chiamaka, Lainey, A’zirah, Amal, Florence, Taskiyah, Imaan and Sophia. Thank you to Miss Gibbon for managing the team and Mrs Allport, Mrs Connell and the parents/carers for their support and help with transport. 

 

On 7th March, the Year 6 Boys’ seven-a-side football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ League losing 10-3. The team worked hard throughout the match. It was a good effort by Matthew, Lewis, Thomas, Harpreet, Elijah, Mason, Hoger, Haaris and Aman but we were beaten 10-3 by St. Vincent’s Catholic Primary School. Thank you to Miss Gibbon, Mrs Gillam, Miss Bennett and parents and families for their support.

 

On 7th March, our Year 4 and 5 Girls’ six-a-side football team were competing in the Caritas Christi In Urbe Schools’ football tournament at St. Paul’s School for Girls. The team played three matches, winning 2-0 and 1-0, and losing the final game 0-1. Overall they finished second and received medals. Well done to Chiamaka, Eva, Shalom, Lumaya, Amelia, A’zirah and Lainey. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and Mrs Murdock for managing the team.

On 6th March, the Year 4 Boys’ six-a-side football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ tournament losing 3-0, 4-0, 2-0 and 2-0. The team worked hard in each of their matches. It was a good effort by Gurtej, Theo, Matiwos, Jayden, Antoni, Daivik, Riyon and Hoang. Thank you to Miss Gibbon, Mrs Allport, Mrs Murdock and parents and families for their support.

 Birmingham Catholic Primary Schools Year 5 and Year 6 Mixed Basketball tournament

On 27th February, the Year 5 and Year 6 Mixed Basketball team competed in the Birmingham Catholic Primary Schools tournament at BMET, Sutton Coldfield against seven other schools. The team played three league matches, losing 9-2, 5-2 and drawing 1-1.  The team then had a play-off match which they won 10-0. The team finished sixth overall in this event. Well done to Lumaya, Kimora, Nifemi, Harpreet, Thomas, Matthew, Jaimar and Lewis. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking the children to this event.

Cross Country Running events

On 7th February, Jaiden, Ariya, Senay, Kimi, Nifemi, Shalom, Hoger and Sophia, competed in the Caritas Christi In Urbe Cross Country Running event at St. Paul’s School for Girls. It was a strong team performance with Kimi and Jaiden A winning their events. Hoger and Senay were second in their respective races and Nifemi finished third in his race. Our school finished second overall in this event. Thank you to Miss Gibbon for taking the team to this event.

On 13th February, our school competed in the St. John Wall School Games Partnership Cross Country running event against five other primary schools at St. Paul’s School for Girls. The team; Davina, Jaiden, Senay, Rowan, Kimi, A’zirah, Nifemi, Kimora, Mayana, Eve, Hoger and Elijah, did very well. Jaiden won the Year 3 and Year 4 Boys’ event. A’zirah won the Year 3 and Year 4 Girls’ event. Hoger and Elijah were first and third respectively in the Year 5 and Year 6 Boys’ event. The Boys’ team won their event overall as did the Girls’ team, meaning our school were the overall winners. Thank you to Mrs Murdock and Miss Aziz for taking the children to this event.

 St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Company Year 5 Basketball tournament

On 4th February, the Year 5 Basketball team competed in the St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Company Year 5 Basketball tournament at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School against three other schools; St. Ambrose Barlow, Holy Souls and The Rosary Catholic Primary Schools. The team played six matches, winning 4-0 and 4-0 and losing 6-2, 4-2, 12-2 and 2-0. The team finished third overall in this event. Well done to Diya J, Kimora, Nifemi, Adam, Aaron and Lumaya.

On 30th January, the Year 4 and Year 5 Girls’ six-a-side football team played in the Aston Primary Schools’ Autumn Tournament, losing 1-0. 2-0, 3-0 and 1-0. It was a good team effort by Chiamaka, Lainey, Amelia, A’zirah, Ashay’a, Eva and Shalom. Thank you to Mrs Murdock, Miss Gibbon and the parents for their support.

Football results

On 23rd January, the Year 5 Boys’ six-a-side football team played in the Aston Primary Schools’ Autumn Tournament, losing 1-0. 2-0 and 3-1. The team; Anthony, Jayden, Dominik, Roshan, Logan, Divine and Kwesi gave it their all. Thank you to Mrs Murdock, Miss Gibbon and the parents for their support.

Caritas Christi In Urbe Boccia and Kurling

On 21st January, a group of children represented the school at the Caritas Christi In Urbe Boccia and Kurling event at St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School. Well done to Hashim, Veer, Viraj, Gianni, Rowan and Davani. The team played very well and won overall. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking the children to this event.

Sports Council

Miss Gibbon, our P.E. lead, has appointed three children from Year 6 children to be this academic year’s Sports Councillors. Congratulations to Lewis, Eve and Jaimar who will help to lead the sporting life of the school this year.

Year 5 and Year 6 Mixed Basketball

On 26th November, the school’s Mixed Basketball team competed in the St. John Wall School Games Partnership event at Windsor Olympus Academy. The squad had a wonderful morning and were a credit to the school. The team won two matches, drew two matches and lost one. Very well done to Jaimar, Thomas, Joseph, Harpreet, Matthew, Kimora, Lumaya and Nifemi. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking the children to this event.

Year 1 and Year 2 Boccia and Kurling

On 21st November, a group of Year 1 and Year 2 children represented the school at a Caritas Christi In Urbe Boccia and Kurling event at St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School. The team competed well and finished joint third at this event. Well done to Anna, Joshua, Sairah, Jamar, Musa and Pio. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking the children to this event

Year 5 and Year 6 Girls' Football

On 14th November, at the Aston Primary Schools’ Girls’ five-a-side tournament, the team played three matches, drawing 0-0, 0-0 and 1-1. I was informed this morning that the team finished second in their group and have just missed out on playing in the finals. Well done to Chiamaka, Lumaya, Zuzanna, Sophia, Louisa and Shalom. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and the parents for their support.

Chess

On 13th November, the school’s Chess team competed in the Birmingham Catholic Schools’ Sports Association’s Chess tournament. Six schools participated in this event at the Abbey Church Hall in Erdington. The school was well represented by Joseph, Matthew, Zeeshaan, Rayan, Roshan and Viktor. Thank you to Mrs Allport for taking the team to this event. Congratulations to Rayan who finished joint third in the individual competition.

Year 6 Boys' Football

On 7th November, at the Aston Primary Schools’ Boys’ five-a-side tournament, the team played three matches, winning 1-0, drawing 1-1 and losing 1-0. It was a great effort by Matthew, Lewis, Harpreet, Elijah, Mason and Hoger. The team just missed out on reaching the finals of this event. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and the parents for their support.

Year 5 and Year 6 Mixed Basketball

On 7th November, the Year 5 and Year 6 Mixed Basketball team took part in the Caritas Christi In Urbe event at Windsor Olympus Academy. After a coaching session, the team played five matches with each basket being worth one point. The team won 1-0, drew 0-0 and 0-0 and lost 1-0 and 1-0. Kimora, Nifemi, Lumaya, Adam, Jaimar, Matthew, Aman and Harpreet played very well and their attitude and behaviour were a credit to the school. It was a pleasure to take them to this event.

Year 5 and Year 6 Girls' Football

On 24th October, at the Aston Primary Schools’ Girls’ 7-a-side League matches, the team played three matches, winning 1-0 and losing 3-1 and 2-0. It was a great effort by Chaimaka J, Lumaya, Eva, Inayah, Amelia, Sofia, Zuzannah, Louisa and Shalom. Thank you to Miss Gibbon, the parents and Jaimar for their support.

Year 5 Mixed Basketball

On 24th October, the Year 5 Mixed Netball team participated in the St. John Wall School Games Partnership event at St. Paul’s School for Girls. I was told that the team were a credit to the school. Well done to Lumaya, Eva, Diya J, Kimora, Adam, Nifemi and Zane. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking the children to this event.

Boys' and Girls' 5-a-side Football

On 23rd October, the Boys’ and Girls’ five-a-side football teams competed in the Birmingham Catholic Primary Schools’ tournament. The Boys’ team played six matches, winning 1-0, drawing 1-1, 0-0 and 0-0 and losing 3-1 and 2-1. It was a good team effort by Matthew, Lewis, Rehan, Harpreet, Elijah, Mason and Hoger.

The Girls’ team played five matches, winning 2-0, 5-0, drawing 1-1 and losing 1-0 and 2-0. Well done to Chaimaka J, Lumaya, Eva, Sofia, Inayah and Shalom. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for managing the team.

Year 5 and Year 6 Boys' Football

On 18th October, the Boys’ football team played their final match in the Aston Primary Schools’ Autumn League and beat St. Vincent’s School 1-0. Very well done to Matthew, Lewis, Thomas, Rehan, Harpreet, Elijah, Mason, Hoger, Haaris and Aman. Thank you to Miss Bennett, Miss Gibbon, Mrs Gillam and the parents and siblings who came for their support.

Year 5 and Year 6 Girls' Football

On 14th October, the Girls’ 5-a-side football team participated in the St. John Wall School Games Partnership experience event at George Dixon Academy. The feedback that I received was that Lumaya, Amelia, Eva, Louisa, Zuzanna and Kenyah were a delight to have representing the school and played very well. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking these children to this event.

Year 5 and Year 6 Boys' Football

On 11th October, the Boys’ football team played in the Aston Primary Schools’ Autumn League. The Boys’ team played one match, losing 2-1 to Kings Rise School. It was a strong team effort by Matthew, Lewis, Thomas, Rehan, Harpreet, Elijah, Mason, Hoger, Haaris and Aman. Thank you to Miss Bennett, Miss Gibbon and the parents who came for their support. 

Year 5 and Year 6 Boys' Football

On 4th October, the Boys’ football team played their first matches of the season competing in the Aston Primary Schools’ Autumn League. The Boys’ team played two matches, losing 3-0 and 1-0. It was a good team effort by Matthew, Lewis, Saran, Rehan, Harpreet, Elijah, Mason, Hoger, Logan and Aman. Thank you to Miss Bennett, Miss Gibbon and Mrs Gillam and the parents who came for their support.

Year 3 and Year 4 Girls’ Football Festival

On 3rd October, the Year 3 and Year 4 Girls’ 5-a-side football team participated in the St John Wall School Games Partnership Football Festival at St. John Catholic Secondary School.

Ariya, Uriel, Roop, Lainey, Sophia, Ashay’a and A’zirah had an active and enjoyable afternoon. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking the children to this event.
